Egypt Pyramids information, tours, prices and online booking

Egypt Pyramids are the most important items of the Ancient Egypt. Located in Beni Suef, built by the pharaoh Snefru, the Father of Khufu, the Pyramid of Meidum seems to stand alone on the edge of the desert, close to several smaller mastabas. The eight layers structure is believed to be the first attempt at a true pyramid and it is the first Egyptian pyramid to have an above ground burial chamber with beautiful and innovative arch-shaped walls. Nowadays, you can only see the highest three levels of the pyramid, protruding through the sands and collapsed debris, in an aura of strength. Located just outside of the outskirts of Cairo on the esplanade known as Giza Plateau, the Great Pyramids of Giza is the must-see Ancient Egyptian landmark.

Known as Khufu’s Pyramid, it is the greatest pyramid of the complex: a truly overwhelming sight. Being one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, it is the only one still standing to this day! When gazing at this colossal structure, there’s no way to escape the feeling of being dwarfed… The two smaller – but still huge – pyramids in Giza are those of Khafre and Menkaure. A few steps to the east you will notice three small (20 m high) piles of rumble: the queens’ pyramids, tombs of Khufu’s wives and sisters. Located between Giza and Sakkara, the Pyramids of Abu Sir are part of a 5th dynasty necropolis.

More information about Egypt Pyramids:

Although the pyramids are not well preserved, the whole Abu Sir site is worth a short trip from Cairo. There is a lot to see in Abu Sir, including beautiful engravings and artwork as well as awe inspiring architecture. Said to be the world’s oldest monumental masonry structure, the unique Pyramid of Djoser (Zoser’s Pyramid) in Sakkara is part of a mortuary complex for the 3rd Dynasty king Djoser (or Zoser). Created by the architect Imhotep, it is a unique stepped pyramid with 6 tiers. The blue tiles of Djoser’s tomb, the hieroglyphs in the pyramid of Pepi I, and the Doors of the Cats (Abwab el Qotat) are all breathtaking scenes. Located at a short distance from Sakkara, the Red Pyramid at Dahshur was built for the pharaoh Snefru, father of Khufu for whom the Great Pyramid of Giza was built.

The Red Pyramid is the first “true” pyramid and it has the second largest base of all Egyptian pyramids. What makes it yet more interesting is that it can be fully accessed, including the chance to see the burial chamber. There’s something special about exploring the cold and silent passageways inside the pyramid. The Pyramid of Hawara near Fayoum Oasis was constructed by Amenmehat III, the sixth Pharaoh of the 12th dynasty of the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt around 1850 BC. Due to the fact that the Pyramid of Hawara, situated 9 kilometers to the East of the Fayoum City, was built out of brick stones and then coated by limestone, it is sometimes called the Black Pyramid.

Further information about Egypt Pyramids:

The Pyramid of Hawara was a large structure and it was 58 meters high and each side of the base of the pyramid was around 100 meters long. The village of Hawara is located 9 kilometers to the South East of the city of El Fayoum, one of the wonderful Egyptian destinations, situated around 100 kilometers to the South East of Cairo. Hawara was known since ancient Egypt and it was called Hat Wa’art, which means the footsteps. Afterwards it was named Laprincess and some historians believe that this name was originally derived from the name of the Temple of Amenmehat III in Hawara, the “Laprent” or the Temple located at the outlet of the lake.
